BSL linguistics

We are delighted to welcome Tessa Padden, MA to Bristol to start 2026 by learning more about the linguistics of BSL!

The training will include lots of discussion and group work, and will cover a variety of topics, including BSL grammar, structure and regional variation.

It will suit those who want to learn more about the linguistics of BSL, or who would like a refresher.

This is a 3-day course: Friday 30th January - Sunday 1st February 2026

Tessa is a vastly experienced BSL trainer. She is a NRCPD Registered Interpreter and Translator, and is a Fellow of the Association of BSL Teachers & Assessors (ABSLTA).

Excellent hot lunch and all refreshments will be provided on all 3 days.

This training is open to all deaf and hearing interpreters, and deaf or hearing professionals who use BSL every day.
If you are currently studying Level 6 and are interested to join this training, please contact us.
This training will be in BSL and will not be interpreted into English.

The venue: Engineers House is an historic venue on the edge of Bristol with great transport links and an excellent range of lunch options, included in your training cost. Parking is available on site. Engineers House is on a direct bus route from Bristol Temple Meads train station.
